MY FIRST HOMEMADE 3D PRINTED ARMY

I took the plunge to buy into the 3d game, having hovered on the sidelines watching the mini-hobby develop for a couple of years.

My son and I recently got into the Fantastic Battles ruleset in 10mm and I wanted to do a Ratmen Samurai themed project so I bought some stl files from Cromarty Forge and got to work.

Printed and painted casually over a four week period with only one failed print which was my fault.

Bog- standard equipment. Easy to use if you read up on what is required in the workflow. (Most notably disposal of waste water and resin as its nasty stuff to the environment)

I had no clue what resin to buy and got this to avid using alcohol in the learning statges. I dont recommend it as the models are rediculously brittle using it. Ive ordered some ABS-like resin for my next project which should make the models more forgiving.

Clan leader Julius Cheezor, appropriately named by my son.

Costs
The stl files cost £45
The resin used came to £10.50 (500ml total)

The initial outlay for printer and wasging station came to £350 which will pay for itself very quickly.

  1. There are some 3D printable figurine/terrain bundles on sale at the Humble Bundle website at the moment. I am not too sure what's on offer as I have little to no knowledge on 3D printers but you might want to check the cheap bundles on offer.
